Gateway Teleport Ltd., announced December 1st, the commercial availability of their Fibre in the Sky Satellite VSAT service.
The service is now operational with total New Zealand coverage on the Optus D2 Satellite located at 152E and uplinked from Gateway Teleport’s Satellite Earth Station in Upper Hutt, New Zealand. Utilising the latest fully redundant SkyEdge 2 VSAT Hub from Gilat, the VSAT Service utilises 2 Transponders on the Optus D2, New Zealand footprint. The Outbound Hub to customer link (shared) is operating at a data rate of over 100Mbps and the return links (customer to Hub) can be customised based on the data service required, with channel rates up to 10Mbps. Antenna sizes down to 0.84 metres and fully automatic antenna commissioning offer customers the most flexible and high quality VSAT Service currently available in New Zealand.
Gateway Teleport’s Fibre in the Sky VSAT Service will provide New Zealand companies with a wide range of opportunities to develop new products and offerings in a variety of markets. Some of these markets are;
- Offshore Exploration
- Live Video Events using IP streaming and Satellite News Gathering (SNG)
- Corporate Networks
- Disaster Recovery
- Maritime Services within New Zealand Waters.To support these applications Gateway Teleport provides customers with access to our 1Gbps
Fibre connectivity supporting Layer 2 and direct IP connections as well as the ability for customers to provision their own dedicated links or meet us at WIX (Wellington Internet Exchange).
Gateway Teleport also announced the availability of their 1.2 metre FlyAway Antenna system which is provisioned with a 1/4Mbps link and can be set up and operational within 15 minutes of arriving on site. Gateway Teleport will also be adding a fully automated “pop up” Antenna system mounted on a 4WD SUV for additional quick deployment services which will be available in early 2014. These units are positioned to address the Disaster Recovery market for Civil Defence, Emergency Communications and any application requiring quick deployment and reliable, high quality IP services. Gateway Teleport will also offer a custom design service for specific customer requirements.
Gateway Teleport operates New Zealand’s largest privately owned Satellite Earth Station (Teleport) in Upper Hutt, New Zealand. Services currently provided include; Equipment Telehousing, Uplink Services on C and Ku-Band, HD Video Uplinks and Turnaround, Gilat SkyEdge2 VSAT Hub and Carrier Monitoring Services (CMS) for Satellite Operators. Antennas currently operational on all Optus Satellites (D1, D2 and D3) and Intelsat IS18 (C & Ku) and IS19 (C & Ku).
